Edwards drops presidential bid - no big shocker

The script was pre-written for Obama and Hillary.

Like I explained before in the blog, after the bush years, the world's view of the Yoo Ess of Ey needs to be repaired, while at the same time continuing the same policies as before; i.e. occupation of Iraq, possible bombing of Iran, continuation of NAFTA and the maquilladoras policies, support of Israel no matter what, etc, etc...

The best way to do this is to elect a black candidate or, failing that, a woman candidate. That way, the yokels around the world will look on, and think: "Wow! America is now a progressive country, akin to Western Europe. They elected a black/woman president after all! Thank goodness no more bush!".

Seems to me that the media and the ruling establishment is heavily swayed toward the side of the black Obama, rather than the woman Hillary.

Senator Clinton, although a woman (good for PR), has a perception of carrying a record of her husband's term (i.e. NAFTA), and is (rightly) perceived as an insider politician apparatchik (Russian word meaning functionary - more apt word with a nuanced meaning here).

Obama, on the other hand, is younger, more photogenic, and a fantastic speaker. He has no record (I am not kidding, - he spent a few years in Illinois Senate, and his voting record consists of voting present on controversial issues), he takes lobby money just fine, and does support the same policies as every other presidential candidate.

So, to sum up - a great orator, a superb speaker, with no record, no controversial views (look at his pandering to AIPAC, for example; "[W]e must preserve our total commitment to our unique defense relationship with Israel by fully funding military assistance and continuing work on the Arrow and related missile defense programs").

This will be similar to the Clinton years - same policies, same outsourcing of American economy and shifting the paradigm more and more toward international gigantic corporations, same wars, but much, much better speeches.

Sigh.

Lets put lipstick on this pig then - it is preordained, pre-written, already decided... All hail the glorious Hillarobaminator, next president of the Yoo Ess of Ey... (And oh yeah - Change!)

Perhaps I am wrong on Obama...
Then again - Maybe not...

What was your point with the second "bonus material" link where you say maybe not (you were wrong about Obama)? This link is a list of all of the members of Congress that voted against authorization for use of force in Iraq. Obama was not in Congress in 2002, he was in the Illinois state senate.

Thanks for the clarification.
I thought Obama was in the Senate by that time.

I will not change my post to protect the guilty :)
