But in 1976, the lives of Mitt Romney and Benjamin Netanyahu intersected, briefly but indelibly, in the 16th-floor offices of the Boston Consulting Group, where both had been recruited as corporate advisers. At the most formative time of their careers, they sized each other up during the firm’s weekly brainstorming sessions, absorbing the same profoundly analytical view of the world.
That shared experience decades ago led to a warm friendship, little known to outsiders, that is now rich with political intrigue. Mr. Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, is making the case for military action against Iran as Mr. Romney, the likely Republican presidential nominee, is attacking the Obama administration for not supporting Mr. Netanyahu more robustly.

In a telling exchange during a debate in December, Mr. Romney criticized Mr. Gingrich for making a disparaging remark about Palestinians, declaring: “Before I made a statement of that nature, I’d get on the phone to my friend Bibi Netanyahu and say: ‘Would it help if I say this? What would you like me to do?’“

She stands over 6 feet tall in heels. She worked in military intelligence in her native Israel. And she runs one of the world's largest, most elite business-consulting firms, with big-hitter clients like De Beers, ITT, and Dell. Twelve years ago, Gadiesh succeeded Mitt Romney as head of what was once called the KGB of consulting firms. Given her connections to the governor, it was no surprise when he named her to his transition team. Gadiesh was one of only two Bostonians listed the last time Fortune magazine published its female power list in 2000.
Her father, Falk Gadiesh, wrote this little book.

So we have an Israeli general, whose daughter (who worked in intelligence - spying - in Israel) has worked for - or rather, with - Romney.
I just adore the quote "Gadiesh succeeded Mitt Romney as head of what was once called the KGB of consulting firms"; it's like an inside joke.

It is entirely normal that after working for Israeli intelligence one goes to Harvard and then becomes the CEO of a gigantic American spying/consulting company.
Just like it makes perfect sense that after heading the CIA one (and one's idiot son) become presidents.

In May 1991, while Romney was CEO, Gadiesh was named chairman of the company's Policy Committee, which set the company's business strategy and policy. In 1992, under Romney, she became managing director. Orit Gadiesh, who has worked at Bain & Co. since 1977, became chairman of Bain & Co. in 1993.
Orit Gadiesh, born in Israel in 1951, has worked closely with Mitt Romney since at least 1991, and probably much longer since she joined Bain & Company in 1977, when she was 26. Romney appointed Gadiesh to his transition team when he became governor of Massachusetts in November 2002. Gadiesh is the daughter of Falk Gadiesh, an Israeli brigadier general and former member of the general staff who reorganized the Israeli army in the early 1950s after a stint at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Falk's daughter Orit was chosen to serve in Israeli military intelligence. Her first position in the Israeli military was as assistant to Ezer Weizman, the deputy chief of staff who later became president of Israel. During the early 1970s, she worked in the war room, a bunker where Gen. Moshe Dayan was in charge. As a war room assistant to Weizman, Orit provided military leaders with documents and correspondence.
Prior to joining Bain & Company, Gadiesh served in the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army. Currently, she is on the board of directors of the Peres Center for Peace, an organization headed by a former chief of staff of the Israeli military, Lt. General Amnon Lipkin-Shahak. The high-level Mossadnik Avner Azulay, managing director of the Marc Rich Foundation, is also on the executive board of the Peres Center.
Splendid.
What we have here is an "agent of influence" (google that terminology, it is very specific) being run by his handlers from Israeli intelligence.
I foresee this country has a very bright future indeed.

Here's a part of it:
The Iranian regime threatens not only Israel, but also every other nation in the region, and ultimately the world. And that threat would take on an entirely new dimension if Iran were allowed to become a nuclear power. And just think of the signal a nuclear Iran would send to other rogue regimes with nuclear ambitions - this could be the tipping point in the development and proliferation of nuclear regimes.
How should the civilized world respond to this challenge?
"Our first task should be to dispense with three major schools of wishful thinking:
The first school concedes that Iran must not be allowed to go nuclear. But that's where the certainty ends. Beyond that recognition, there is only hope - hope that Iran's weakening economy and political rivalries will yield a change in the government's leadership. We're all hopeful, but that's not a strategy.
The second assumes that it's possible to live with a nuclear Iran. That thinking is based on the theory that Iran, once granted the privilege of joining the nuclear club, will be a responsible actor.
Neither their words nor their records justify that conclusion.
The third school believes in the logic of deterrence, which served us through the Cold War, and they think it will apply to Iran. But for all of the Soviets' deep flaws, they were never suicidal. A Soviet commitment to national survival was never in question. This assumption simply cannot be made about an irrational regime that celebrates martyrdom.
Each of these three schools of thought represents a rationale for inaction, rather than a strategy for success.
Each would in all likelihood yield the same result - an Iran that is nuclear, threatening the world, or worse. They should be rejected. And they should be replaced with an understanding of two fundamental realities:
1) Iran must be stopped
2) Iran can be stopped
It's inconceivable to me that some could think otherwise. Their view has to be based upon disbelief - disbelief that Iran's regime means what it says.

I wondered what the "Herzliya Conference" actually is, as I have not heard of it before.

Which makes me wonder why a mormon would attend and speak...

By the by, the attendees of the 2012 conference include some heavy hitters and ex heavy hitters, general Benny Gantz, the current Chief of General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Shimon Peres, Tzippi Livni, George A. Papandreu, the man at the center of the Greek bankruptcy and wholesale sale of the country, Robert Zoellick, the current head of a small, little known organization known as the World Bank, ex head of Goldman Sachs...
Stanley Fischer, current head of Bank of Israel.
That Mitt Romney was invited to this - a conference designed to guide Israeli foreign and fiscal policy, speaks volumes.
That he is an "agent of influence", whether he knows it or not, should be obvious.
And an explanation for you at the very end.
Please note that an "agent of influence" may or may not know that he/she is acting for a foreign power, and may or may not gain benefits from doing so.
During the days of the Soviet Union, the NKVD and then KGB cultivated (that is the best word to use, not recruited) many foreign reporters who were "befriended" by KBG operatives, who became part of their lives.
And these "friends", KGB agents, would give them advice about their articles - nothing too heavy handed, no pressure, just some suggestions to make an article more favorable to the Soviet Union or perhaps write about the USA in a more critical fashion.
One of the best tactics was to give "exclusive scoops" of some NATO or American documents which put certain individuals or organizations in a bad light - the documents, of course, being fakes prepared by KGB experts on official paper with valid watermarks...
Of course, even better than a reporter being an "agent of influence" would be a politician, who due to his being born in a rich and influential family has a chance in the future to become a member of the House, perhaps even a Congressman... or perhaps, just perhaps, a president...
