NASA: what are its priorities?

What with the International Space Station, Hubble telescope, death of the shuttles with no replacement desired, private/commercial space travel programmes ongoing...

Quo Vadis, NASA?

Well, fortunately our president has taken some time in the recent past to set some priorities for our space programme.

Here they are:

A few days ago, in Cairo, Bolden told Al Jazeera that when he became the NASA administrator, President Obama charged him with three things:

"One, he wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math;

he wanted me to expand our international relationships;

and third, and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science and engineering — science, math and engineering."

ABC News, dated Jul 6, 2010.

There you go.

Inspire chillen (I assume black and, in this case, moslem chillen) to be, like, engineers and shit, yo... Then sell our technology to friendly nations such as Russia and China... and last but most importantly, to get some moslems in, because they make the best engineers and mathematicians, unlike, say, those Whites and Asians dorks with pocket protectors (and please, no more German scientists, those guys were overrepresented and now need to be "affirmative actioned out").

I see that the 2010 agenda has led to many NASA successes and engineering triumphs and space explorations achievements which proud Americans and envious rest of worlders watched almost weekly on the TV news shows...

Historical Note:

Funnily enough, there was one very important moslem scientist who played a crucial role in the Apollo missions, Farouk El-Baz, an Egyptian national. Fascinating person.

Funnily enough, he was part of NASA BEFORE the affirmative action president demanded more moslems make it in.

Funnily enough, funny how that worked... merit based meritocracy in a government institution, as opposed to today's "preferred races" hiring model (the opposite of meritocracy... what's the word... oh yeah, Idiocracy).
