And back to Norway: new bomb drill in Norway

Antiwar.com:

The US State Department has officially apologized today for causing a city-wide panic in Oslo, Norway forcing the evacuation of the nation’s royal palace and much of the city’s downtown after the discovery of a fake bomb on an embassy vehicle.

The bomb had been placed on the vehicle as part of a training drill, and then they forgot it was there until security guards discovered it when the vehicle was trying to reenter embassy grounds.

The discovery sparked a full scale security alert, leading to special forces deployments around the embassy and panic in the surrounding area. A car bomb in downtown Oslo was the beginning of last year’s massacre by Anders Breivik, and security was needless to say spooked by the discovery.

I have one question to ask here: What The Fuck?

An American embassy personnel (assume intelligence) running terrorist bomb drills in a foreign nation, using a fake bomb on a public transportation?

It's a bullshit internet raving of a lunatic on a wacky website, right?

Chicago Tribune, dated 8:43 a.m. CDT, July 31, 2012, via Reuters:

OSLO, July 31 (Reuters) - A wide section of the Norwegian
capital's downtown area was evacuated on Tuesday and special
forces were deployed after a suspected bomb - later found to be
a training device - was found attached to a U.S. Embassy
vehicle.

The fake bomb was inadvertently left on the car and
triggered a security alert when it tried to go through a routine
check, Oslo police said in a statement.

Police, who had been criticised for reacting too slowly when
gunman Anders Behring Breivik detonated a bomb in July last year
before going on a killing rampage, cordoned off an area 500
metres (550 yards) around the embassy.

They also evacuated buildings, shut underground rail lines
and brought in heavily armed special forces.

"Our bomb squad removed the object and found that it was a
practice bomb which was previously used for an internal exercise
at the embassy," the police statement said.

The U.S. Embassy declined to comment.

So, a bit of a different version.

Bomb was left on an American embassy vehicle.

Those Norwegians are a nervous lot all of a sudden...
