Where's the body?

Pardon my tin foil spider sense tinglin', but where the fuck is the body?

Where are the pictures?

Apropos, the bin Laden compound did not exactly say "low profile".

According to the washingtonpost:

The compound was three stories tall but had few windows facing outside. It appeared to be worth at least $1 million, but had no telephone or Internet connections to the outside world. It had 12-to-18-foot security walls topped by barbed wire, and occasional plumes of smoke where the residents burned trash that they dare not place outside like other neighbors for trucks to haul away.

Barbed wire.

Custom built with few windows.

No internet connection nor even a phone! (all nearby houses did have phone service, this was - and is - a plush suburb).

Trash was burned.

Every Pakistani living in the 50 mile radius knew that there was something strange with that setup.

This was located north of Islamabad, population of 800,500.

Not a small town, in fact, this is the capital city of the country.

This whole building just screams "Douchy James Bond villain hides here!".

Incidentally, lets look at the neighborhood where Osama was, er, hiding.

Wikipedia on Abbottabad :

Abbottabad (Urdu: ایبٹ آباد Ābṭābād; pronounced [ˈaːbʈaːbaːd̪]) is a city located in the Hazara region of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, in Pakistan. The city is situated in the Orash Valley, 50 kilometres (31 mi) northeast of Islamabad and 150 kilometres (93 mi) east of Peshawar at an altitude of 4,120 feet (1,260 m) and is the capital of the Abbottabad District. The city is well-known throughout Pakistan for its pleasant weather, high-standard educational institutions and military establishments.

This is "leave it to Beaver" land.

This is not Pakistani middle class suburb - this is the plush, elite of Pakistan live in/vacation paradise.

Abbottabad has been attracting tourists to the city since the colonial era, as it is a major transit point to all major tourist regions of Pakistan such as Nathiagali and Naran. According to the Imperial Gazetteer of India, "the town is picturesquely situated at the southern corner of the Rash (Orash) plain, 4,120 feet (1,260 m) above the sea".[4] Like much of the mountainous Northern Areas, tourism is one of the important sources of income in Abbottabad. In the summer when temperatures rise to around 45 degrees Celsius in Punjab and NWFP, a large number of tourists travel north to Abbottabad.

Hundreds of thousands of tourists come in to enjoy the beautiful weather and breathe the healthy, invigorating mountain air.

Say, what is that strange house built like a bunker, with no windows, with barbed wire surrounding it?

Shaken, not stirred...

Addition: Just came back from isteve blog, and he brings an interesting point, proven by google:

google "abbottabad military academy" and keep scratching your head...

Incidentally, ancient history

BBC article, dated 11 September, 2002:

In the north Indian state of Punjab, scrap metal salvaged from the debris of the World Trade Center in New York is being recycled to produce steel for use in building construction.

Nearly 20,000 tons of heavy melting scrap, was recently shipped across the globe to Punjab's main steel town of Mandi Gobindgarh, some 300 kilometres north of Delhi.

The scrap metal will be reprocessed in dozens of furnaces in one of Asia's biggest steel smelting towns.

Steel from the huge concrete columns that once supported the grand twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York, will now be smelted to construct new buildings across north India.

How did steel and scrap from the WTC end up in India?

Funny you should ask:

Christopher Bollyn:

The price of scrap steel for export in 2001-2003 was at its lowest level in 50 years, between $70-80 per ton. Why would a steel trader in New Jersey spend $25 per ton to ship the WTC steel to distant Asian smelters when it could have been shipped for a fraction of the cost to U.S. steel companies?

Lets check that claim, on the company's own website:

Hugo Neu has more than 60 years of experience building and managing recycling businesses. Until recently, the company was one of the largest metal recyclers in the world, and the largest exporter of recycled metal from the United States to destinations throughout the world. A Hugo Neu affiliate processed most of the scrap metal from the World Trade Center after 9/11.

Christopher Bollyn:

The World Trade Center complex contained an estimated 285,000 tons of steel. In September 2002 the Associated Press reported that Hugo Neu had processed 250,000 tons (88 percent) of WTC steel: "The company that filled Megasteel's order, Hugo Neu Schnitzer East of Jersey City, New Jersey, said it had handled 250,000 tons of trade center scrap and had sent shipments to 11 countries, including Malaysia, China, South Korea and Japan."

The question to ask is, why?

Why send all the steel to foreign countries at additional cost to the private company fulfilling the order?

Free market?

Why throw the body overboard instead of keeping it?

Don't want to offend the moslems?

Something does not pass the smell test here.

I am officially turning into a tin foil hat wearing goof I suppose, be right back, off to watch Ancient Aliens marathon...

I feel the same way... it's inconceivable that we've had probably a grand total of maybe one hour of exposure to osama bin laden.

this just doesn't make sense.

Much appreciated, I wasn't aware it was quite that obvious.

Looking at the article below the rolling stone also had piece recently on America's 11 most dangerous reactor plants and the near misses.

Zaid Hamid is an interesting character. He is a former Pakistani military official.

Anyway, he claims that the US helicopters came in unannounced and that one was shot down by Pakistani military. He thinks the US will use this as a pretext to de-nuclearize Pakistan, because that is what Israel & the US seek. He also claims the US has bought off all of the Pakistani media and many high-ranking officials in the civilian government. Furthermore, he claims it is supporting a number of terrorist/insurgent groups that are trying to destabilize & Balkanize the Pakistani government.

I gather that he wants the Pakistani military to depose the civilian government. I am hoping this is just Pakistani propaganda or just overheated paranoia from a dissident Pakistani.

You might want to check out the podcast, the interview starts after ten minutes of chit-chat while the host is killing time trying to get his guest online.
